Request an Estimate - Step 1 of 2
While there are many people that you might have to notify, and the list will vary from one person to another, here are some of the most common contacts to add to your list:
· Your Employer: While this might seem like a no brainer, there are people who actually forget to tell their boss that they are moving and that they have a new address. This is vital, however, since you will need your tax documents at the beginning of the year.
· Insurance Companies: This is another important business to notify in the event that you are moving to a new address. Not only do you need to notify them because your insurance is only good at your current address, but you could also save money depending on where you are moving to.
· Creditors: It's vital to inform the people that you owe money to of your new address so that you can stay on top of your bills even when you are at a new home. Don't wait for things to get forwarded by the post office. Take the initiative and notify banks, credit card companies, student loan officers, and other creditors of your new place of residence.
· Subscriptions: Because the mail doesn't always forward things like magazines and newspapers, it is important to let these companies know where you would like your things sent to and on what day to start sending them there.
· Friends and Family: It is always a good idea to let your friends and family know what your new address is so that you can stay in touch with those who are closest to you.
There are a lot of companies out there that will allow you to change your address or other records with them online. Other companies allow you to do the same over the phone. Still other people choose to print up their own postcards that contain the important changes and information so that you can send them out in bulk requesting that your address be changed. You can also employ email for friends and family, or you can send out short reminder letters for the less technically savvy.
