Relocation is no doubt, a very hectic and tedious process but with a little planning and organization, you can make it a smooth process. Whether, you are planning to move just across the town or state, availing of professional help from movers is always the easiest solution to shifting your residence without stress. There are many errands and chores to be finished before you can relocate completely and successfully.

Making the following arrangements will ensure a convenient and comfortable move:

At Your Old Residence:

1. Inform all the concerned authorities like post office, banks, credit card and gas agencies as well as your friends and relatives about the change in address.
2. Change your mobile and telephone number.
3. Either cancel your newspaper subscription or inform the agency about the change as well.
4. Cancel your bank account or if they have a branch in the new place you are shifting to, then transfer you account.
5. Return all that you borrowed like library books and videos and ask back for the items that have been borrowed from you.
6. Disconnect all utilities like the cable, phone and Internet.
7. Get rid of all unwanted and useless items by donating them or selling them off at a garage sale. This will help you to reduce the task of packing as well as transportation and obviously trim down your moving bill also.

So the best bet is to divide the work and you can pack heavy durable items like books and clothing’s and let the movers pack delicate and fragile items.
11. Whether you are hiring a mover or relocating on your own, it is recommended that you fix an appointment or rent a truck well in advance.
12. If recruiting a mover, make all the necessary research and investigation on the selected mover, so that you are not cheated or defrauded by dishonest movers.

2. Make a list of all emergency numbers like the police station, hospital, fire station and other necessary numbers like the grocery store, library, theaters and restaurants in your new neighborhood.
3. Open a new bank account.
4. Get utilities like electricity connected first.
5. Arrange for domestic supplies and electronic appliances.
6. To be on the safer side, change the locks your new home.
